should i go the traditional route i never had acting lessons , only been in a few school plays and had professional dance lessons?

Answers:

Doing Youtube skits won't help you become an actor, and it could, potentially, harm a career.
But your chances of becoming "big" are virtually zero anyway, so don't even think about that.
99.9% of actors never get a good role in anything big - ever. But that's not why they get into acting.
They do it because they love to act.

But if you want to get into acting, you're going to need many years of training and stage experience. School stuff isn't going to impress anyone. You'd need experience on stage with a good community theatre and film experience with student/short or indie films. And on average it takes seven years of good quality training before any agency would accept you.

So if what you want is to be 'big' - forget it. If you just love acting, go for it and get into a very good acting school.

I don't understand. Why would youtube affect your chances?

Anyway, if you want to be an actor you have no choice but to go the traditional route. That's how it's done. But don't if you're desperate to be big, because the chances of that are one in a few millions and it takes passion for acting in the first place. Pursue it ONLY if you love the craft of acting itself, otherwise you'd be wasting your time and money on some immature delusion. Grow up. Given your questions, it's pretty obvious that you have no idea what acting really is and what pursuing it actually involves. To be honest, it doesn't sound like this career path is for you.

YouTube is a good way to work on your technique and get your name out there. Create a character and do a channel based upon that characters life. That is how Colleen Ballenger got her start and she had her own Netflix show.

You could do anon Youtube and cover your face?
