I have a photo planned, but I need nude models. How do I go about getting them, and how can you make the situation less awkward?

Answers:

How do human beings not think of you as a pedophile while taking nude pictures of their kids? They can't! Everybody on this world to just might as well have been a pedophile in the first place. Honestly when it comes down to art we're faced with the challenges of whether or not it really does actually seem like it really is art. Who knows if the federal government here in America allows Americans to photograph nude kids.
Now if the subject is actually older then it is easier to actually photograph them with their consent without appealing to being a pornographic.
This department of nude has been debated for too long. So good luck and the convincing Department.

Art Photography only refers to one genre of photography. Are you implying that you're taking a class or are in a group of dedicated, serious photographers (a club)? You can simply be another adolescent-minded, lecherous guy with a camera ("GWC") seeking to leer at bare skin while posing as something you aren't.

IF you're a student in a bona fide, reputable school... ask the instructor; reputable schools usually hire known models just starting out (not topless/strippers from cheap beer joints). You can also contact Art Schools or Modeling Schools, or college/university Art Departments within easy traveling distance from you. Besides Craig's List, there are any number of aspiring models that advertise on the Internet and/or other social media.

What is your budget? Will you provide the space or will the model provide the space for the modeling/photo shoot session? Be prepared to sign a detailed contract specifying the time/conditions required of the model and photographer(s). Meet with the model at an open/public place convenient to both to discuss what you expect and discuss things like props, security, dressing area, etc.

There are sites on the Internet where aspiring models just starting out advertise. The problem is finding one that is serious and responsible; some are scam artists (some will and have robbed young wanna be photographers).

As suggested by someone else here, be certain to have someone act as "security" that can also serve as witness that the session is conducted in a serious, professional fashion. Avoid contact with the models at all costs; maintain a professional distance and a professional tone at all times; better yet, learn non-verbal cues to direct the posing model(s).

Contact local art schools, they use models on a regular basis

Make sure that they bring a companion (boyfriend) and that you also bring someone, too. If you don't you are setting yourself up to be accused of sexual assault and it'll be your word against both of theirs. You may want to only choose a person that has already done nude modeling so that not only is the experience less "creepy," but they will likely have a much better idea of what their doing and will take direction better or already know what poses work.

Make sure that you both sign a contrast that specifically stipulates what each of you can and cannot do with the image files and/or prints. Make sure that the model fully understands that YOU are the copyrights holder and that YOU alone have the legal right to publish the photos on social media, make copies, etc...

There's web sites where models have a profile that lists what they do .
But expect to pay $100 an hour , and up .

They need to be paid for one thing.

You have to avoid the whole 'creep' factor too. A single person asking for nudity is not looked on as professional if they come across creepy. We had a photographer in our art group who approached only the 'cute' girls and asked about doing an outdoor nude shoot. All I could think of was that he'd be selling the shots to someone as sex stuff, or masturbating to them. His work wasn't all that good, he approached it badly, and everyone had red flags about it.

You need to check in your area if there's a photography group that's legit, see if they have models come in for practice sessions.

I like the answer about posting an ad at a university. Or consider contacting an art college. They may be able to give your contact info to models they use.

put an ad in a paper for "men only"...............no women will "pose nude" aka provide sexual favors you want

Awkward is their problem, not yours. Put notices up at the nearest university. Young, healthy students always need extra money.

Craigslist. Go to "Gigs" and read through postings. Just copy paste them if you're willing to pay. If you are looking for "free" models you will need 100 charisma or 100 speech to convince someone.
