Answers:

If you do not send Vital Information through your computer you have very little to fear if you have made a system image on an external hard drive you have little to fear but there are so many people that store hundred thousand songs and DVD movies on their computer and purchase all kinds of expensive video games and put them on their computers and then they don't make a system image on an external hard drive and then one of these Ransom virus is pops up they actually think hey maybe if I pay the ransom. Unlock my computer forget it so take your Ransom and run

In the early days, viruses actually broke your computer permanently.
These days, they turn them into zombies. You know those Botnets that recently hit someone with a 1.7 Terabit Distributed Denial of Service (DDNS) attack? These kinds of things use those zombies. Your computer along with hundreds of thousands of others, constantly send useless packets of data to the target of the DDNS attack. The idea is to flood them with so much data, the site goes down. And they use YOUR computer to do it with. The viruses are nearly always very poorly written so they can crash your computer, slow it down, and sometimes break things.

Physical Robots are still learning how to navigate the real world. They are dangerous but only because they don't know the common sense things people and animals do.

fear of computer viruses = common sense
fear of robots = illogical fear

robots can only do what they are programmed to.
unfortunately, so can viruses, which is why we need AntiVirus software, for peace of mind :)

Robots will take over the the planet and enslave humanity, using computer viruses as one of their primary weapons. How did you not know this already?

These are two very different things.

Viruses cause your computer to malfunction. Maybe just run slowly, or maybe crash. Or maybe lock all your files unless you pay someone in Russia to unlock them.

Losing your computer due to a virus would be bad, but imagine if your bank suddenly lost its computers due to a virus...that would be disastrous.

As for robots, the fears here are that more and more jobs will be replaced by robots. This isn't science fiction either. During the 1970s and 80s, most car factories installed robots to build cars. The robots are cheaper than humans, produce better quality than humans, and can run 24/7 - unlike humans. Most manufacturing jobs have been, or are in the process of being, replaced by robots.

The other fear is from AI - artificial intelligence. Basically, what would happen if a computer became sentient? Able to think on its own, like a human. Would it decide humans are horribly inefficient and try to take over the world? Would it try to help us, or eradicate us? I don't think we'll see a "Terminator" type scenario either. I think we'll basically see a situation where we won't even be aware we're being conquered until it's too late.

Computer virus someone can take control of your phone or computer and watch you take a $hit.
