Illegally.

Try
Open office instead
Www.office.org
It is free

Amazon.com has good prices for Microsoft Word. So I recommend you start your shopping there and then you can look around and see if anybody can beat their price. You are going to find, however, this it is much more expensive to buy Word by itself than if you just buy the entire Office suite.

Microsoft does provide a free version of Word. It comes via their Cloud and that is here: https://office.live.com/start/OneDrive.a...

If you would rather have something that you install, and all you need is Word, and you want to save your money, you can install
AbiWord. It is FREE and does the same thing as Microsoft Word. You can get it here: https://www.abisource.com/

If you insist on MS Word, you'll have to buy it. As Sandy said, it's part of the MS Office bundle, which (the last time I looked, which is admittedly a long time ago) offers different payment schemes, but MS with their concept of "software as a service" really prefers to sell you the subscription model.

Alternatively, you can download (and use, legally, for free) any of a number of open source office packages, which are to a large part compatible with MS Office (i.e. they offer mostly the same functionality and will be able to read or write most of the corresponding other office package's data formats - it'll start to become somewhat difficult if you are using 3rd party addons). Two of these are Open Office and LibreOffice.

Open Office: https://www.openoffice.org/download/
LibreOffice: https://www.libreoffice.org/

Depending on what you actually want to do, though, there might be other software which would be better suited to your task.

it's in the Microsoft Office bundle so that's what you have to buy.
