Been four weeks and weekly go to the er to get a shot of toradol. Today the Dr suggested to find a dr to do steroid injection and it should last 3-6 months. Anybody have this done. In so much pain. I took a muscle relaxer but makes me so tired and I can&#

Answers:

Stretching exercises help somewhat. Toradol did nothing for me. I had a hip impingement. The first steroid injection I had worked for eight months and the second for only two months because mine was a progressive problem. I was almost back to normal after the steroid injection. It doesn't hurt because they numb the muscle, then numb it deeper, then numb the joint itself. It just feels creepy to have the needle deep inside your hip joint. It should help your sciatica a great deal.

Hi... i have sciatica and i've gotten the steroid shot. It's been over six months and i'm still doing well. My neurologist told me that i can have a second shot when this one wears off, but these shots do not always work for everyone that well the second time around. My next step is surgery which i'm not all that concerned about. The surgeon will simply clean out the holes where my sciatica nerve exits the spinal disk, and sew me back up. He said the recovery isn't bad. I'm not worried about having the surgery when the time comes.

I hope you find a solution. I know how much it hurts.

I used heat bags (rice bag heated in the microwave) and i also bought a vibrating heating pad. Still it was uncomfortable but these gave me a bit of relief. I also sleep with a pillow between my legs above the knees.

best wishes! I know it's not fun at all

They are just treating your symptoms, not fixing the problem. Sciatica is from pressure on the nerve(s). Go see a chiropractor or osteopath and have your back examined. Massage can help if the nerve is trapped within the muscle. I've had it several times and it can be resolved with chiropractic and massage therapy. Sometimes they do need to use steroids to cut down the initial inflammation.

A steroid injection will help. When it happened to me I did a LOT of walking and it sort of worked its way out.
Not saying it would for you but when taking the pain pills walk as much as you can.
I live off of pain pills (not addicted or abuse them) and it is not fun.
