Update: To buy guns you should be mentally healthy. Anyone who tries to purchase an ambidexterous GSG .22 LR 522 Standard semi-automatic has to be mentally challenged- It's that easy to control.

Answers:

Deranged Individuals I was a Marksman in the RAF and a weapons specialist in the RAAF spent 38 years around all types of weapons from .22" starter Pistols to the 20MM Vulcan Gun and I have never seen a Gun Kill anyone they all need someone to pull the Trigger

Probably the fault of liberal values in graphic and violent movies and videos. It could be the kid was inspired by ISIS like so many European young males. In the last 10 years we are exposed to a lot of violent conflicts in the Middle East in videos. Could be he is disturbed and didnt have psychiatric help. Or maybe no parental guidance in morality. I dont know.

So, a mentally deranged person buys a gun and shoots up a school.

Obviously the shooter is responsible for his actions, but surely there are things that the government can do to at least make it more difficult for deranged people to buy guns in the future, yes?

But in this case, our government has done nothing. And not just after one shooting, but after nearly a decade of shootings.

In fact, this current administration has even gone BACKWARDS. Trump repealed a law put in place by Obama making it illegal for people with a history of mental illness from purchasing guns. That would have prevented the Florida shooter from legally obtaining his guns. He might have still been able to get a gun but it wouldn't have been as easy. But nope. Trump's actions removed that barrier for him.

And after the Las Vegas shooting, what do you think Congress did? They tried to pass a bill that would have made bump-stocks and silencers legal nationwide. Can you imagine? One of the nation's worst shooting incidents, made possible by a bump-stock, and Congress wanted to make these available for gun owners across the nation!?!

So while shooters are still responsible for their actions, our government definitely has blood on its hands due to its continued inaction.
