I will never be as I was.
I will never be as I was.
We’re pulling apart and coming together again and again
We’re growing apart but we pull it together, pull it together, together again
Don’t let me go
Don’t let me go
Don’t let me go
The Fray – Never Say Never
hbw!
Every time I see this picture I giggle. It’s a background fail.
I have been offline for a while on a vacation hiatus.
We went to Molokai with our 4×4 club BentPlate. I think it will take me some time to wade through the photos. I took extra batteries, extra memory cards and a spare charger but I spent so much of my time enjoying being there that I didn’t take as many photos as I thought I would.
Actually, we don’t just jeep on the weekends, we do it whenever we get the chance and everytime we have the chance. The black YJ with the snorkle is mine, the white YJ is hubby’s. You can see the larger sizes at flickr.

Ala Moana Beach Park, playing with the camera in the water.
No I didn’t rotate it upside down. I was laying down.

I can relate.

I get the feeling as I look out to the water, that this is the beginning, not the end.

More from Grandview Natural Preserve.

These tree stumps look as though they are marching toward the water.

It’s very easy to feel small, insignificant and lost at sea sometimes.

Took my 20D out for some sun yesterday.
A few notes: I’m not impressed with the 50mm lens indoors with flash, photos seem under exposed. The black and white modes are fun and I plan on using them. Often I do not convert images to black and white that may have been great black and whites. However, the sepia, green, blue and purple are fun but shouldn’t be over used. All those things can be done in photoshop, why are they in the camera anyway?
I’m in the market for a good bag. I’m looking at a Domke f-2. I already have a ‘day bag’ I need a ‘hold everything for a trip’ bag, any suggestions?

Boy, I feel real bad about tanning my rear while all you popsicles on the mainland freeze yours off, not.

I’ve been feeling a little burnt out lately. Nothing seems to go right. When I have to rush out the door and I forget my camera, I see lots of things to photograph. When I remember to take my camera, I see nothing of interest. I’m beginning to wonder if the camera, or lack of, is effecting my ability to enjoy and explore my surroundings. Often I find myself more concerned with how the image will come out then what I was looking at to begin with.

There are a lot of famous lumps of rock around the US but Diamond Head is probably the most famous landmark in Hawaii.
This is the standard view from my house. I admit, for not liking Hawaii all that much, I never get tire of looking at this.

I shot 3 rolls of 36 exp film yesterday and I have no idea how any of my fireworks photos will come out. I’m tingling with anticipation, while I wait for my film to be processed.

Obviously I haven’t bought that high priced digital yet. I’ve rediscovered film. This means postings my be a little more few and far between as I strive tp come up with a good solution to getting my film to digital.
I don’t have anything against those high priced fancy digital SLRs, film just feels right to me. It’s something I can hold onto and I like holding onto it.

How tall will a palm tree grow?

Happy Birthday to me!

The top image was taken with my Finepix 3800 and the bottom photograph was taken with my Canon Rebel (film). Notice the wonderful differences.
Also see this image (taken with the finepix) which is as close to the same picture on the bottom as I could get with the differences in depth perception.
I’m not really trying to start a discussion on, “what’s better film or digital”? Because we all have our opinions, differences in capability and financial limitations. I’ve saved up a substantial amount of money to buy a better camera and become more serious about photography but like a friend pointed out, maybe I don’t need a new camera, maybe I need to pick up my film camera more often and stop buying into the fast food satisfaction of digital.

Barbers Point is one of my favorite places to go. It’s close to my house and offers many sunset opportunities.

Should I provide a description with the images? Is there any importance in knowing where the photo was taken? What I was doing? What shoe size I wear?
Like this photo, it’s not really a place, as in: city, street name, ext. I do a lot of mindless wandering around. Going beyond the ‘do not trespass’ sign. Would it help anyone to know where it’s at?
What if any information would you like?

Once again, I’m sorry for the lack of updates. Perhaps you’d like an explanation? Ok.
Well my husband is in the military and the 25th infantry is getting ready to deploy more troops to places we all know well in the east. And while my husband isn’t going, he does have to go up to Washington state to pick up some heavy hardware.
He’ll be gone for a few weeks, leaving the 29th of this month, so he decided to take leave and spend some time at home. That’s where I’ve been. Normal postings and stuff will return soon.

This is looking over toward the blowhole (it’s below those cars). Just like usual the only time it blew was when I was looking somewhere else. ARRR

This was taken in front of Kaena Cave, looking toward Kaena Point.

Every morning I take Iroquois Ave on the way to drop the kids off at school. This is the view of Honolulu I get. Don’t you hate me?

I took this picture two years ago with my Canon. I found it while digging through boxes looking for those stupid tags for Christmas presents. Of coarse when I found the pictures the search for the tags came to a stop.
I miss my canon, I think I’m going to take her out today and show her the quality time she needs. I hope the kids don’t mind the fact that I wrote their names on their presents with a sharpie.

Welp, like everyone else I suppose it’s time to take the ye’ol Christmas hiatus. Just letting you know, ahead of time before posting gets sparse and everyone thinks I gave up on my photolog.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone, be safe and be naughty save Santa the trip!

This picture was taken at Ko’olina. It’s a wonderful place for a chicken like me to go snorkeling. If you ever come to Hawaii you don’t have to stay at the Ko’olina resort to visit it, there is no such thing as private beaches here. All beaches are government owned. Therefore the Ko’olina resort can not restrict your access. They do however restrict your parking.

My hubby and our girls.
